Archie Kleingartner is Professor Emeritus of Management and Policy Studies at UCLA. He is also Founding Dean of the UCLA School of Public Affairs. He is the Founder of HARRT and Chair Emeritus of the HARRT Faculty Advisory Committee.

Dr. Kleingartner served as vice president of the nine-campus University of California System for Academic and Staff Personnel Relations from 1975-83. In 1992-93, he served as elected chair of the UCLA Academic Senate, which represents more than 2,000 faculty members. He is the creator and co-executive producer of a major CD-ROM and web site entitled Global Window - Doing Business in Japan, and is directing the research and production of a similar web site on doing business in China.

From 1997-1999 he chaired the UCLA Academic Information Technology Board, which served as the primary policy and governance body for information technology at UCLA. His current research is focused on the use of the new information technologies for training and education. His most recent publication is Comparing Cultural Policy: A Study of Japan & The United States (AltaMira Press, 1999).
