David Lewin, Ph.D.,
is the Neil Jacoby Professor of Management, Human Resources and Organizational
Behavior at the UCLA Anderson School of Management where he is also Senior
Associate Dean for the MBA program. A specialist in human resource management
and industrial relations, Professor Lewin has published 19 books and more than
150 articles. Among his recent books are
International Perspectives and Challenges in Human Resource Management, Human
Resource Management: An Economic
Approach, The Human Resource
Management Handbook, and Advances in
Industrial and Labor Relations, Volume 14. Prior to joining UCLA in 1990, he was Professor, Director of
the Ph.D. Program, Director of the Human Resources Research Center, and
Director of the Senior Executive Program at the Columbia University Graduate
School of Business.
Holder of National
Science Foundation, Ford Foundation, National Institute for Dispute Resolution,
Human Resource Planning Society, Society for Human Resource Management, and
U.S. Department of Labor research grants, Professor Lewin presently serves as a
Director of K-Swiss, Inc. and member of the K-Swiss Board’s Compensation
Committee and Governance Committee. He also serves as a Director of the
National Academy of Human Resources (NAHR), a Director the Law and Economics
Consulting Group (LECG), a member of the Faculty Advisory Committee to World at
Work, and a member of The Conference Board’s Evidence-Based Human Resources
Advisory Panel. Professor Lewin previously served as Director of the UCLA
Institute of Industrial Relations, President of the University Council on
Industrial Relations and Human Resource Programs, and Co-Chair of Los Angeles
Mayor Richard Reardon’s Task Force on General Manager Compensation and
Performance Management. He is senior editor of Advances in Industrial and Labor Relations, and a member of the
editorial boards of Industrial Relations,
Industrial and Labor Relations Review and California Management Review.
Professor Lewin has

Series. In 2004, Professor Lewin received the Executive MBA Program Outstanding
Teaching Award.
Professor Lewin also
serves as an expert in employment litigation cases. He has provided reports,
declarations, deposition and trial testimony in cases involving issues of age,
race, gender and disability discrimination, wrongful termination, constructive
discharge, human resource management (including employee and executive
compensation and performance management), and wages and hours, including exempt
v. non-exempt status and independent contractor v. employee status.
