Joel Fadem
Senior Researcher
Joel Fadem has been with the Institute for Research on Labor and
Employment (formerly Institute of Industrial Relations) as a senior
researcher since 1975. He started at UCLA as a Senior Fellow in the
Center for Quality Working Life, and has held part time appointments in
the Institute of Industrial Relations and the Anderson Graduate School
of Management since 1981.
He has worked on a number of projects for private business in the
area of organization design and change management as a partner in
Potomac Consulting, LLC.. For the past 20 years, he has consulted to
Fortune 500 companies on strategic organization design, high
involvement work systems, new technology introduction, and
union-management cooperation. His recent clients have included Lever
USA, Nabisco, General Mills, Coca-Cola, Levi-Strauss, and
Hewlett-Packard.
He also teaches in the MBA program at the CERAM-Nice School of
Management in France and moderates executive leadership programs of the
Aspen Institute. Mr. Fadem received his B.A. from the University of
California, Berkeley. His postgraduate degrees are in Administrative
Sciences and Industrial Relations from Yale and Oxford Universities,
respectively.
